Hockey - 1sts win a thriller final.
The firsts won narrowly last night against the Kings 1st IV in the final of Div1. Kings have been great rivals this year with all games very close.
The game last night (Tues 26th Aug) finished at 1-1 after normal play, but our boys won a nail biting penalty shoot-out 5-4.
The crowd support was amazing and I'm sure the haka at half time spurred our guys on for the victory.
Well done on a great game - you really deserved the win to cap off an excellent season.

Junior Secondary Football Crown to McGlashan
The John McGlashan Junior First XI football team has achieved a rare feat for the college, by winning the Otago Secondary Schools junior football league.
The team, a mix of Year 9 and Year 10 footballers, secured the title in memorable fashion. First they earned a semi-finals spot by qualifying second in the league after eight games of pool play (beaten only by OBHS). Next they defeated Kings 5-3 in their semi-final. They then overcame the biggest hurdle of all, reversing the outcome of their pool play encounter by handing Otago Boys their first defeat of the season with a tense but ultimately convincing 4-3 victory in the final.
This is only the second time in past eight years that the McGlashan team has been crowned junior secondary champions. Co-captained by Bradley Holdridge and Alex Thomson, this year’s team developed nicely during the season, and showed great composure, commitment and team work to beat OBHS’s talented line-up in the final.
Coached by David Thomson and Derek Elliot, this year’s Junior First XI squad has comprised: Callum Duncan, Tom Elliott, Harry Fraser, Bradley Holdridge, Peter Hortono, Jak Jessop, Matt Johnstone, Cam Johnstone, Jordan Mitchell, Yugen Miyahara, George Sinclair, Daniel Tan, Alex Thomson, Jaiden Tucker, Willem Van Plateringen En Watanabe, Paddy Wennekes.
